IDOL SEARCH CONTEST

Located at Harris Riverside Stage.
First Avenue at Main Street (across from City Hall)

June 7-8, 2008
Saturday-Sunday

6 to 17 Year Olds -- Saturday, 1 P.M.
18 Years and Over – Sunday, 1 P.M.

Will the next Carrie Underwood please stand up -- and take the stage at the Pride of the Fox RiverFest? Not likely. But the Fox Valley’s own RiverFest Idols will be crowned in separate age/gender divisions.

Vocal soloists of all ages are invited to participate with the 6 to 17 year old group competing in three rounds Saturday and adults Sunday on the Harris Riverside Stage. Registration is at 12:30 p.m. each day, with competition beginning at 1 p.m. Contestants will appear in order of registration.

While national television exposure, recording contracts and the adoration of every teen in America is part of the American Idol show, RiverFest Idols will garner trophies and bragging rights in age and gender divisions.

Like the television show, however, the RiverFest Idol search will begin with contestants singing a short unaccompanied selection. Qualifying contestants from this first round will advance to the second round where they will sing with a karaoke disc (CDG format). Contestants are encouraged to bring their own karaoke discs.

A panel of three judges will score contestants in five categories: physical presentation and costuming, crowd reaction, how the choreography/performance supports the song and lyrics, vocal presentation and overall performance.
